Private Members’ Statement - Marion Tennis Club

Tuesday 19 May 2026

S.E. ANDREWS (Gibson) (15:51): I am so pleased that the Marion Tennis Club now has a home for all six of its courts after its forced relocation some years ago. I have been advocating alongside the Marion Tennis Club for some years now and I am pleased that the Marion council found a location for four of their six courts, but it was a difficult time to find a location for the extra two courts. One of my election commitments that I put to the electorate prior to this last election was to ensure that the Marion Tennis Club had the funding for two extra courts and eight pickleball courts, knowing how popular and growing that is in our community as well.

After much wrangling and much discussion amongst the Marion council, I am so pleased that they finally landed on a location, and I want to thank the Marion council for their hard work and consideration of what is best for our community. The two extra courts are now going to be located right next to the Marion RSL, which means the members of the tennis club can also enjoy the superb hospitality that you get at the Marion RSL. I am so pleased that the Marion council have found a solution for the Marion Tennis Club with its over 90-year history and growing membership.
